FourKites is looking for a people-driven, student intern with an inquisitive nature and a passion for learning. As the People Operations Intern, you will get hands-on experience with fundamental HR topics - benefits and insurance, compliance, reporting, record-keeping and communication - within a hybrid, digital landscape. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills related to professional communication, working on a team, collaborating cross-functionally and internationally! This is a part-time summer internship, expected to work about 20-25 hours per week in a hybrid work environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Support employees at various life cycle stages, including but not limited to onboarding, performance and retention, total rewards, and off-boarding
• Hands on support with policies & procedures by focusing on professional writing and document management systems
• Support the administration of our HRIS to understand best practices around personnel files, workflows and data integrity
• Learn about administering extended leave, time tracking and employment compliance through various channels including FLSA, FMLA, STD, LTD, FMLA, ADA, Paid Time Off
• Participate in strategy calls related to benefit and insurance programming for open enrollment, special events and QLEs
• Support our HR department brand internally by demonstrating preparedness, intelligence, follow through, positivity and integrity at all times

This role reports to the Talent & Development Manager, People Operations, and supports the People team.

Who you are:

• Actively pursuing a professional degree in the Human Resources field or related (Associate, Undergraduate or Graduate - focusing in related topics like HR Management, Business Administration, Learning & Development, etc)
• Desire to gain practical skills and knowledge within the Human Resources discipline
• Desire to grow professionally through interacting with real-life business cases
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Mac OS and general ability to navigate technology systems and equipment
• Strong communication, project management, critical thinking and collaboration skills
• Professional, reliable, eager to learn
