The Risk Associate will assist with multiple functions on a Technology/Security 2nd line of defense team. They will help with administrative roles and functions within system(s) of records, 2nd line of defense oversight testing/monitoring, management reporting and external exam facilitation. This candidate will also help with the team’s ongoing activities, such as policy/procedure updates, Security/Technology related documentation and other control activities the team performs.

This is a great role for someone who is excited by working on multiple different projects and workstreams simultaneously, as well as working cross-functionally amongst the Security and Technology teams.

What you'll do at Avant

• System administrator & Data Quality Manager for system(s) of record for risk-based activities (i.e. audit evidence collection, vendor management, etc.)

• Control Testing Management: Help oversee first line of defense control testing, or assist team members with control testing design & execution

• 2nd Line Testing: Execute oversight testing for Security & Technology organization in context of technology risk & controls

• Facilitate requests for information from other departments (i.e. requests for review, external exam requests, etc.); work collaboratively amongst functions to complete requests

• Provide management with reporting on project and/or gap statuses

• Facilitate and assist with team’s control execution, or execution of other governance processes, including but not limited to policy and procedure reviews, regulatory updates and vendor oversight

• Leading or assisting with other team projects, as assigned
  

Why you're a fit

• Bachelor's degree in relevant fields, including but not limited to Business Administration, Risk Management, Technology, etc.); relevant certifications or experience can be considered in replacement (e.g., CRISC, ARM, CGEIT, etc.).

• 2nd line of defense or other governance/oversight function experience required; other risk roles (i.e. Audit, Compliance, first line of defense risk work) able to be considered

• Willingness to learn new topics, skills & projects, as well as able to take feedback from multiple sources to enhance work product, processes and procedures

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically Excellent communication skills to collaborate with other team members and stakeholders, including management level audience, efficiently and effectively

• Detail oriented and organized; able to manage end-to-end projects independently

• Able to build processes from scratch, as well as identify enhancements to existing processes, implementing efficiencies where possible
