Engineering Manager, Incident Response & Analysis

Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Manager for our Incident Response & Observability (IRO) function.
In this role you will drive our strategy for incident response and observability. You will lead a team of engineers that will encourage best practices, remove anti-patterns and provide best in class tooling for observability and incident management at scale. Working with engineering teams at large and customer support, you will provide processes to allow us to properly detect, mitigate and resolve incidents efficiently.
Reporting to the Director of Developer Experience in the Infrastructure Engineering group, you'll work hybrid-onsite through our Dublin office.
You'll Get To…
- Advocate for and strive to put in place an accountability model for all services across engineering based, but not limited to, cornerstones such as SLOs,SLIs and error budgets
- Work with engineering, product and customer support to improve adoption of standard methodologies, processes, tooling and customizable incident response management flows across Squarespace with the goal of driving positive change in measurable incident metrics such as MTTD, MTTA and MTTR
- Own the incident retrospective process, focused on finding and solving for patterns and systemic engineering shortcomings that contribute to production issues and negatively impact the business. Push for long-term solutions beyond simple band-aids to ensure whole classes of problems go away.
- Lead planning and execution of business continuity, capacity planning and disaster recovery exercises.
- Own the software observability platform including logging, metrics, and tracing.
Who We're Looking Fo
- 5+ years of experience managing a technical team
- 5+ years as a hands on SRE practitioner
- Ability to work with distributed teams supporting highly available and distributed infrastructure.
- Communication skills, with a history of successfully engaging and collaborating with stakeholders across organizational boundaries to achieve shared goals.
- Ability to create a shared vision, inspire and motivate individuals and teams to make that vision a reality.
- Deep familiarity with a variety of incident response frameworks and best practices of systems and software engineering development.
- Understanding of risk management and business continuity principles and practices.
- Familiarity with software observability tools and best practices including logging, metrics, tracing, and data visualization.
