We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Acuity Scheduling team. Acuity Scheduling is a distinct brand and platform within the Squarespace suite of products. The Acuity mission is to help appointment-based businesses start and grow their service by allowing clients to directly schedule appointments, removing administrative burden and giving our users more time to focus on what they love doing.

As the Director of Engineering, you will lead a group of growth, mobile, booking, transaction and platform engineering teams that cover all parts of the product journey. You will oversee technical strategy for the Acuity product, goal setting, career development, team culture, and group operations to ensure we build engaged teams that ship great products.

This is a hybrid role working from our New York office. You will report to the GM of Acuity.

You'll Get To…

  • Define the Acuity technical strategy for your teams by building a multi-year plan
  • Work with Product and Design functional leads to create impact across the team, ensure appropriate staffing and team make-up to achieve your goals, ensure teams are making good progress against goals, and step in to help resolve blockers or challenges to delivery of outcomes
  • Recruit and develop a diverse team of frontend, backend and full stack engineers, both in office and remote
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams throughout Acuity and Squarespace to ensure top-notch quality and reliability.
  • Partner cross functionally with technology leaders across the organization to drive transformational change and technology alignment
  • Balance a mixture of heavy experimentation, creative production and sound engineering principles

Who We're Looking For

  • 8+ years as an Engineering leader
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of 20+ engineers inclusive of managers and ICs
  • You get satisfaction from growing people and promoting career development.
  • Experience successfully recruiting for frontend and backend software engineers
  • Successful track record of building strong relationships, and ability to galvanize the company around mission and charter, serving as an internal change agent
  • Experience leading customer facing developer teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into engineering goals and deliverables.

Cash Compensation Range: $255,500 - $350,000 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
