Slip Robotics is a cutting-edge robotics company specializing in the development of large autonomous mobile robots for loading and unloading semi-trailers. With a strong presence in the greater Atlanta area, we are continuously expanding our team of passionate engineers and designers to create innovative robotic solutions that address various logistical challenges.

As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our products, working closely with internal engineering teams and production teams to ensure the successful development of our custom robotic system.

As an Engineering Technician, you will:

  1. Support engineering teams with a wide variety of support tasks: circuit board bring-up and testing; troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems (board level to robot level); evaluating test and production operating procedures; designing and building custom assemblies for experimentation; and assembly and integration of mechanical and electronic components into complete systems.
  2. Become an expert on our product's electromechanical systems in furtherance of becoming a principal investigator for issue resolutions.
  3. Become the owner of robot wiring. Design, build, test, and produce technical fabrication documentation for all robot wiring. Lead the transfer of robot wiring manufacturing specifications to external cable manufacturers.
  4. Become the owner of the electrical test lab. Maintain the operational condition of the lab and its equipment by performing routine maintenance and making minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
  5. Conduct occasional basic soldering tasks for harness assembly, printed circuit board assembly repairs.
  6. Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.

As an Engineering Technician, you'll bring:

  1. Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field, relevant trade school education, applicable military training, or equivalent work experience.
  2. 2+ years of experience in a technician role, preferably in the mobile robotics, automation, automotive, or similar electro-mechanical industry.
  3. Experience specifying, designing, and/or building cable assemblies.
  4. Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical design principles. Basic understanding of power distribution and connectors, signal integrity, communication protocols, etc.
  5. Experience using electrical and/or mechanical CAD tools.
  6. Experience using most common electrical tools and instruments: data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, soldering tools, etc.
  7. Experience using most common mechanical tools: hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, 3D printers, etc. along with proven fabrication experience with a strong emphasis on workmanship.
  8. Excellent problem solving skills for troubleshooting electromechanical equipment.
  9. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teams of electrical and mechanical engineers.
  10. A strong commitment to safety.
  11. A strong commitment to quality.

We are a highly collaborative team that thoroughly enjoys the work we do and the people we do it with. We're a very loyal and supportive group, even across disciplines. We're looking for like-minded high-performance candidates who can help us maintain our enjoyable design culture. Therefore, along with technical skill, we're looking for the following:

At your core:

  1. You are naturally curious and inspired by the work you do.
  2. You're collaborative, humble, honest, flexible, confident, generous, inspiring, and generally happy --'most' of the time.
  3. You are not rigid or dogmatic.
  4. You're able to shift between big-picture, architectural thinking and detail-oriented work
  5. You are a problem solver that's able to balance competing priorities and persevere through adversity (complexity, ambiguity, changing circumstances, etc.).
  6. You're a skilled communicator that's able to produce technical documentation with an easy-going writing style that inspires trust and is easily consumed by others.
  7. You are able to anticipate and navigate technical challenges.
  8. You have a sense of empathy for the consumers of your work outputs, and a strong sense of usability/human-centered design.

Working Environment

  • The role may involve working in manufacturing environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move heavy equipment, and standing or walking for extended periods.
