Position Summary

The Corporate Controller is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting functions within an organization. They play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC filings).
  • Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies and policies
  • Collaborate with other executives to create long-term financial plans and budgets.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights for decision-making.

Risk Management and Internal Controls:

  • Assess financial risks and implement internal controls to mitigate them.
  • Monitor financial processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage the corporate accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster Collaborative and high-performing work environment.

Strategic and Financial Guidance:

  • Advise the executive team on financial matters, including mergers, acquisitions and capital investments.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings (federal, state, and local).
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate financial results and insights to the board of directors and stakeholders.
  • Represent the finance function in meetings and presentations.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership roles, preferably as a Corporate Controller or Director of Finance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience with percentage of completion accounting is desirable.
